Fluid Leaks
A vehicle’s brakes are powered by a hydraulic system, which relies on brake fluid to pressurize your brake pads. As your brake pads wear down, brake fluid will drain from a reservoir in your engine and travel throughout your brake system. When your car is leaking brake fluid, your braking system will not be pressurized properly and will eventually fail to function. You many notice that your brake pedal feels soft or mushy when you attempt to brake.
Screeching Noise
Through the natural force of friction, your brake pads will wear down over time. Underneath the brake pad, there is a component called a brake wear indicator. Once your pads have worn down to a certain point, your brake wear indicator will be exposed. This will cause a loud screeching noise whenever your brake. Screeching or squealing brakes indicate that your pads are worn down and need replacement.
Warped Rotors
Your brake pads are connected to your wheels with a component called a rotor. If your rotors are not installed properly or are exposed to high temperatures, they can become damaged and warped. When your rotors are warped, you will feel a vibrating or shuddering sensation whenever you brake.
